We often see raised eyebrows when we say that laser tag is very accessible and that age, disabilities, and other infirmity have no impact on whether you can be a good player, so we’d like to explain ourselves just a bit more. In short, the guns shoot literally at the speed of light, 100% accurately, for hundreds of feet at a time. This makes an accurately-aimed shot impossible to dodge. Also, there’s no way you can simply outrun the range of the guns; if you’re in range now and someone sees you you’ll still be in range when they fire, all you can do is jump behind cover. With that said, you might almost ask if physical prowess gives you any advantages at all! Continue reading
FAQ: What kind of safety equipment do you need?
The short answer to this is: none! There are a few points worth stating, though, as long as you’re asking…
FAQ: What’s the best size of group?
We’ve run events for groups ranging from 5 people to several thousand. Needless to say, whatever you’ve got planned we can handle. In general we recommend groups of 20-ish or less. Smaller games are more demanding of the players and will emphasize skill differences (and how fast people improve at the game) more. Larger games can be a bit chaotic and frantic, but still fun. FAQ: Hold old (and how physically fit) do you have to be to play laser tag?
We’ve had folks as young as 3 and as old young as their 80s play laser tag with us. The primary requirement for someone to be able to play is that they can handle the weight of a laser tag gun weighing about five pounds and have the desire to shoot at or with their friends and family. (We’ll warn you now: little kids will KILL you. You can’t see them coming because they’re too small and all they care about is chasing and shooting Mom/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa/etc.) In general someone between the ages of 8-10 is absolutely old enough, but individual kids vary. FAQ: What should I wear?
We recommend that you wear long pants and closed-toe shoes to any laser tag event. The shoes in particular are critical. We often can’t allow someone to play in sandals, flip flops, and similar footwear. Especially for outdoor laser tag fields heavier shoes (like hiking boots) are great. The pants, similarly, are absolutely necessary in outdoor areas, though we also highly recommend them in indoor laser tag battlefields. Why? Simply, pants cover your legs and keep things from touching them. You’d think that that’s a silly reason until you’re laying down or against cover and you’re trying to keep your knees off the floor or wall because it’s cold or the plaster is sharp and pokey or a thousand other things. When you play you want to be focused on your target and pants are a surprisingly big help in that area. Continue reading
