We've recovered from our crazy weekend. We played with a huge (~30 people) group of Girl Scouts on Friday and hit the road for a crazy, frenetic event Sunday with PNCSY, a Jewish youth group. Pics are up for the PNCSY event and we're working on getting the rest of the pics from Friday's event. (Our camera died and we used the camera of one of the moms present.)
Also, we've got big news we're happy to announce: Mike's Combat Games is sponsoring a team to go compete at Memorial Day Mahem, a clan war being put on by SpecOps Live Play in Modesto, CA. We've got a 5-player clan that's going to show them how the game is meant to be played! We believe that this is the first tournament in the U.S. where a Battlefield Live location has sent a team to another location. Also, we'll be hosting some practice sessions for the team in this upcoming week where you'll be able to RSVP and play for little to no cost! Details coming soon.

We had an amazing weekend with two great events: a phenomenal 23 person open event where we ended up with tons of pics and an exciting night birthday party where we got only 6 pics. Pics for both of those are up. Also, we reworked the navigation bar at the top of each page. You'll notice that our media page which we've been giving links to now has it's own, rightfully deserved space in the nav bar. In addition, we added 5 new desktop images, so go grab them while they're fresh!

Thanks to everyone who gave us such great support and encouragement about our equipment "upgrades". (See news from Apr 1.) We got e-mail from as far away as Australia about it! We have an open event in Eugene coming up this weekend on April 25 and details & discounts are up. Also, we updated the media page with more videos and the flyer for April 25.

We are proud to announce a new upgrade in our equipment. Instead of the realistic and sci-fi sounds you're used to our gaming guns have all been upgraded to play classical music, such as Vivaldi's "Spring" from the Four Seasons symphony when you fire. Also, instead of the typical "Unh!" when you are hit, the guns will play Bach's "Ode to Joy" and Handel's "Halleluia Chorus" when you die. Instead of bringing you back to life we will now provide you with Hawaiian-style leis when you die, denoting your progression to heaven. In addition, we will be doing away with our typical games, such as "Team Deathmatch" and "Zombie" and have an all-new lineup of games, including "Patty-Cake" and "Ring Around the Rosey," none of which actually require the gaming guns. This will allow us to entertain a limitless number of people simultaneously. We're really excited about it and hope you will be, too. Happy April Fools' Day.

The Portland open event was lots of fun. We're going to make a point to start holding regular events up there, that's our promise. Also, pics from Sunday are up, as well as the majority of our new media page. You'll finally be able to look up old galleries of event pics without fishing through the news archives. We also have desktop images, videos and more. Check it out!

We are very excited to announce that we'll have a public open play in the Portland area on Sunday, March 29th! It's been far too long since we were able to host a public event up there, so we're totally jazzed. Details are up on this website, and if you're on our Portland mailing list you've already got a message in your inbox. Note that because we only solidified the details this late we're kicking $5 off the price for the event just because we like y'all!

Today we had a great time at Cassie's 12th birthday. (Anonymity is because of age.) We played team deathmatches, Zombie, Sniper and more. A great time was had by all and we came home with a ridiculous number of pictures, many of the best of which are now up. On our list of near-future projects: a media page with all of the event albums linked!

007 struck hard and fast at the open play last Saturday. The Taco Bell agency took on the Chillin' agency but as it turns out they bit off more than they could chew. Not only did Chillin' maul Taco Bell at Intel but Taco Bell also got mauled at the soon-to-be-renamed "Whiffle Ball Game." By that point it was all over. Nevertheless, everyone had a great time and we got some great pics which are up now.
March 9, 2009
We forgot to mention before (and it's totally worth mentioning) that this Saturday at our 007-themed public open play that LADIES PLAY FREE! For the rest of you agents you won't want to miss the lineup we have planned for you. We're playing at the Somerset Hills Neighborhood Park again, which proved itself to be a GREAT field last time. You do not want to miss this event. Make sure to check out the flyer for more details.

Yesterday we were out with the Marine Corps recruits playing and having a blast. We ran a variety of games, from team deathmatches to a "Recon the objective first, then relay that info to an assault team" game. We didn't get to do everything we had planned but the planning ended up being worth the effort. Also, we'll have a really good idea of the general challenge level for next time. We'll be able to provide an even greater challenge but better stay within the range of skills that most of the recruits have. Pics are up. Also: details on our next open play (Mar 14) will be up by the end of today!

Just a quick "Happy Birthday" to my sister.
Happy Birthday, Pam! May we have many more years to fight and squabble. I wouldn't rather argue with anyone else. Love, your brother Mike

We had not one but two really fun events this weekend. On Saturday we had an event with the Marist HS Freshman Basketball team on the Marist High School campus! It was a great place to play. Pics are up. On Sunday we had our second event with the youth group from The Church of the Resurrection, up in Tualatin, near Portland. Unfortunately, because we played in the dark outside we don't have any pictures. Maybe next time, after Daylight Savings we'll have some great pics of the group.

Steve Spohn of The-PhotoGuy.com generously came out and took pics of the Jan 31 open play which are now visible on that same link. We also encourage folks to join us on Facebook where MCG has it's own page. Also, we're planning our next open event. We expect that it'll be on February 28th. Details coming soon.
February 7, 2009
We've finally got the pics from the Jan 31 open play up and ready for your viewing. We got some great shots and missed a few others. We're looking into some alternate camera settings that might help us get a higher ratio of "good photos to total photos taken." Both Battleball and Somerset Hills Neighborhood Park were excellent and we'll be using both of them again.

Our New Year's Resolution is to update the news more regularly. Right now we're excited about a number of things, including our big open play coming up Saturday, January 31st where in conjunction with other fields across the US we're debuting a new game called "Battleball". Battleball is a fusion of football and our characteristic lasertag on steroids. We think you'll love Battleball regardless of whether you even know who's playing in the Superbowl on Sunday. Also, Battleball is also now on the Live Videogames page.

We had a great time with CBT Nuggets, a computer training firm located here in Eugene. They took out their entire staff and lots of family and friends for a huge, half-day event out at Shotgun Creek. Pictures are up. Also, we'd like to note that we're sorry you haven't seen the updates for the last two weeks. We accidentally did partial uploads that failed to update, among other things, the news and home pages.Eugene.

Yesterday we had a great event with Looking Glass Counseling. Everyone had a blast. This group had the best communication EVER for a team of first-time players! (Surprise, they're counselors...) Also, we met Liz, a school teacher, and her dog Sally. (Hi, Liz!) Liz had some concerns that we were happy to address and we wanted to make special note and thank her for taking the time to speak to us. Pictures (although none of either Liz or Sally) are up.
October 27, 2008
We had two events on Saturday! First was the second open event for our "Back 2 School" event and then later in the evening was a pair of orthodox Jewish youth groups. The open event was lots of fun and pictures are up. We didn't manage to get any pictures with the youth group because it was so dark, which is too bad. Not only did everyone have a blast, but we used a new location, Wallace Creek Girl Scout camp. We expect to use that location again, most likely for HUGE (1/2 mi x 1/4 mile or larger) games, particularly in an overnight setting... </teaser>
October 20, 2008
We had a great time with the Eugene Navy recruiting office this past Saturday! Everyone had a blast, lots of people are planning to come to the open event next weekend and we even stayed late with some of the players who wanted to play longer. Pictures are up.
October 7, 2008
We wanted to take a moment to congratulate one of our employees on his 16th birthday. Happy Birthday, Bucket!
October 5, 2008
On Saturday we had a great open event at Washburne Park, near the University. Although it rained while we set up the weather cleared just in time for us to start playing under blue skies. We had lots of fun and plenty of folks stopped by. (We gave a free game to anyone that wandered by and wanted to give it a try.) We didn't get as many good play shots as we would have liked, but we got far more than we did at the most recent UO event. Pictures are here.
September 28, 2008
Friday night was our second event at the University of Oregon, called "Intermingle". We ran a free open play for anyone that came by. We had lots of fun and so did the players. We haven't counted waivers yet, but we estimate that about 120 unique players (many played multiple games) came through in about 4 hours of play! Unfortunately, between the lighting and the pace of the event we didn't get many pictures. We saw another photographer who we're hoping we can get pictures from, but in the meantime you can see what few pictures we ended up with here.
September 24, 2008
We've got our second ever event on the University of Oregon campus this weekend! Come find us at "Intermingle" and play with us FOR from 8pm to midnight in the EMU (at 13th and University). We've also got two open events coming up in October. On October 4th we'll be playing at Washburne Park near the University on 21st and Agate. On October 25th we'll be playing at Melvin Miller Park. Both open events will start playing at 1pm. Look for more details (and a printable flyer) soon!
September 23, 2008
Two events in one weekend! As we said before we played with ImagINwood and on Saturday we played with the Westside Young Adult Group in Portland on some incredible timber land outside of Estacada.
September 22, 2008
We were out playing with ImagINwood, a cabinet shop here in Eugene. We went up to Melvin Miller and had a blast. Lots of shop vs. office fun was had, and we played deathmatches, encounter assaults, sniper games and one heck of a mean 2-Man Free-For-All. For a while we've got pictures up, showing most of the players.
August 31, 2008
Finally our schedule is returning to normal! Mike just got back from travelling this past two weeks for the Western Idaho Fair, working with SpecOps Live Play. Only a few days before that he and Molly had their first child born, Felix Michael Peterson, on August 9. He was born a full two weeks late! We're sorry that this slowed down our usual rate of adding information to the site and have already put up a lot of new information with more to come soon. Check out the update log to see everything that's been flying up these last few days!
Aug 30, 2008
You may have noticed that there's been a lot of small updates over the last few days. Expect even more coming soon, including a media page and some additional info in the field owners' section.
July 13, 2008
Sorry for the lack of updates lately. For about a month we've had Internet issues. Those are fixed and hopefully our more frequent updates will resume. Lately we had an event with Yellow Book ("Not the other book") and booked several private events in August. Although we still have a few openings through the end of the summer our Fall is starting to fill up, so book your birthday or start-of-school party now! Also, it is our goal to finally start hosting monthly open events. Look for an announcement soon!
July 7, 2008
We had a great open event this last weekend. We will definitely use that same park again! It was 6 acres of heavily wooded space that was challenging to move in because it had a heavy mix of crazy long fire lanes and thick brush that always gave your target more cover than you wanted! If you had a target in your sights but wanted to, say, pull a pin & flank you often found the flank to be difficult because of how wooded the space was. Trees that were between you and the target often made flanking difficult and gave your target the first shot! It will be a great space for new players because the foliage itself will help them stay alive longer but stretch the skills of experienced players to develop a quicker "fire on sight" reflex.

I want to take a quick moment to wish my wife Molly a happy anniversary. Molly, these last three years have been the most exciting of my life and I can't wait to share the rest with you. Thanks for all that you do. Love, Mike.
June 30, 2008
In the last two weeks we've had a birthday party and a bachelor party. We've also had problems with our usual internet access and the laptop we'd normally take with us to a coffee shop for access. Sorry about the delay in posts. Make sure you come see us at our open play event this Saturday at Marvin Miller Park. Details (and a printable flyer) are here.
June 16, 2008
This weekend we had a grad night party for Churchill High School. We had a blast playing indoors in the quad area that they nomally have dances in. All of the Oregon E-Deals certificates disappeared within a day after we posted about them last week; we look forward to playing with you lucky folks! Our fall bookings are starting to fill up quickly, so if you have a fall birthday or are thinking about using us for a teambuilding session with a fall sports team you want to call soon and talk to us about what we can do to help your team aim forward!
June 8, 2008
Last night we were at the grad party for Marist High School. This Friday we've got another grad party, too, but as far as we know it's still a secret for the students... Are you glad the school year is over? Celebrate in style with a Battlefield Live party! We've had a few certificates up on the Oregon E-Deals site and there's only one left! The certificate is good for 2 hours of play for 10 people. For some inexplicable reason they have the price down to just $60! Act now and grab the last one before it's gone! With the school year ending you'll have family and friends around to celebrate and nothing would be more fun than having fun with Battlefield Live!
June 1, 2008
Yesterday we were "Guest Instructors" at Warrior Stakes and it was a huge success! All told 188 recruits showed up. The schedule of rotation was changed on the fly and the number of people we had at a time varied from 6 to about 40, but we rolled with it gracefully, thanks in part to the flexibility of the Battlefield Live system. Cypher and Growler came up from SpecOps Live Play down in Modesto, CA and brought their guns, which doubled our armory size for the event. It was great to finally meet the two of them and we hope to see them again. Our biggest triumph, biggest surprise and our biggest honor after the break.
Our biggest triumph of the day was when we found out how excited the recruits were getting about playing Battlefield Live. When our staff grabbed lunch they had recruits saying, "you're with the lasertag? I've heard that's really good!" At the end of the day the event administration started to call for everything to close down when two sergeants got on the radio and told them that they had two squads that really wanted to play and hadn't had the chance... so they were given it! Those two squads were our last players in the field.
Our biggest surprise was also our biggest honor. Late in the day we were told that the battallion commander wanted us all at formation to recognize us at the end of the day. We expected a simple thanks. Instead, we were called up in front of the whole battallion, he shook each of our hands and awarded us a recruiting coin! It was a huge honor that Mike hasn't completely gotten over yet. After that, the battallion got a laugh as us civilians utterly failed to do an about-face correctly as a group. (Mike, for instance, turned the right way but used the wrong toe. Doh!)
We had video taken at this event, too, so we'll soon have the opportunity to have videos up from both the EMU event and from this event. Now we have to turn our sights on the next two weeks. We have two graduation parties for high schools in the area. We'd tell you who, but it's a secret...
May 25, 2008
We had a final meeting on-site with the Army this past week for Warrior Stakes, a huge event they're putting on for their recruits across Oregon and part of Washington this upcoming weekend. Although it's not an open event, there will be special coverage from the Donkey Show on 101.5 KFLY. We're currently expecting some folks from Battlefield Sports (the gaming guns' manufacturer) to be on-site as well to take photos and some video.
May 19, 2008
What you see now is more or less the final stage for the site. What do you think? We're filling in the sections of the site as fast as we can! Feel free to e-mail us with suggestions or post them to the thread on the Battlefield Live Forums!
May 12, 2008
We had a great time at our open event up in Portland this last weekend. The deathmatching was fast and furious and we played two new games that we'd never tried before. Both were a huge success and we'll be playing them again. The first, Zombie, was like a sniper game in reverse: one person started out as a zombie and "infected" the humans as they died. Zombie was tense and suspenseful all the way to the end for every game. The second new game, Intel, gives each team a codebreaker. There is a "laptop" hidden in the brush and both teams need to get their codebreaker to the laptop, cover the codebreaker while they decode the laptop and then back to their base to report the code. The catch? If your codebreaker dies they can't be respawned until the other codebreaker is dead! Intel was another great game for building suspense and instead of the pressure of being hunted you have the pressure of searching and protecting your codebreaker at the same time.
May 8, 2008 - EMU Game Night recap
The event on the UO campus was a big success! We had more than 60 people play at least once, most of them multiple times and more than half played in the tournament! Final tournament results are here. Sorry the results aren't more fancy right now, we figured you'd want to see them ASAP. There's also some pictures already up over on Flickr. There'll be more coming. Also, we had video taken of the event, so there will eventually be videos up on YouTube, but don't expect to see those for a while. In the meantime, take some time to join the official Battlefield Live forum and join other players from around the world chatting about games, strategies, videos and more.

Tomorrow we have a huge event at the EMU on the University of Oregon campus. The entire event is FREE and includes open play and a clan tournament. (Teams of 4 people.) We'll be playing in the Skylight Lounge, which is a spacious, multilevel area with scenic views of the campus and has walkways that cross a giant two-story chasm that goes all the way to the ground floor. The open play starts at 4 pm and the tournament starts at 7 pm. Again, the whole event is FREE because it's being put on by the EMU marketing department and the UO Cultural Forum. The EMU is the student union and is located at the corner of 13th and University street. This is definitely an event you don't want to miss!
