FAQ: Which laser tag gun is the best?

When you come out and play with us for your birthday party, bachelor party, or other event you may be surprised when we let you choose between six different models of laser tag guns AND we let you switch up between games as often as you want. Our guns are full-size, full weight replicas from machine pistols to assault rifles, so they tend to build a fair bit of excitement and we like to let you play with whatever you want. All of our laser tag guns also have an actual red dot scope, which makes it as easy to shoot your target as using a mouse on your computer. So which one is the best gun? Well, it depends.

The size of the gun tells you a lot about it at Mike’s Combat Games. We use Battlefield Live gear that is spectacular for fun and play balance. Small guns have shorter ranges but wider spread, so they’re great for getting up close and assaulting a fixed position. Longer guns have much longer ranges, but tight spread, so they’re great for sniping but can be tricky to hit with when you get too close. Here’s a rundown on each of the laser tag guns in our arsenal.

The Spitfire machine pistol is the smallest gun in our arsenal. It’s light weight and small size make it easy to run around the field with. It’s also got a super wide spread that almost makes it a short-range fire hose of infrared death to your opponents. It’ll shoot as far as 150′ on a pinpoint if you aim carefully, but most of your work with a Scorpion is probably going to be less than 100 feet away. If you’re going to ambush or sneak up close to enemy lines this is probably the laser tag gun for you.

The Scorpion submachine gun is only a little bigger than the Spitfire but has a longer range (225′) and a fairly wide spread of bullets that makes it easier to use in close quarters combat. Where the Scorpion really shines, though, is actually in its shape. The Scorpion is hands-down the easiest laser tag gun to aim and shoot accurately. While it is designed as a close-up laser tag gun it is the easiest gun to get both hands on and aim wherever you want. This stability allows the Scorpion to even perform as a mid-range sniper in a pinch.

The Commando carbine is the all-purpose gun in our arsenal. It’s significantly heavier than the Scorpion and is decidedly front-heavy, but it’s extended range (325′) and extremely adjustable shoulder stock make this laser tag gun easy to use at any distance. When you don’t know what role you’ll need to fill on the field or need flexibility from your laser tag rifle the Commando is your go-to choice.

The M41A Pulse Rifle is recognizable from the Aliens movies and is usually one of the guns in highest demand. With an adjustable stock and longer range than the Commando (375′) the Pulse Rifle is a very popular sniper rifle. It weighs a few pounds less than the M4s and M16s which makes it easier to move around the field but slightly less stable for long shots. The Pulse Rifle is also the smallest gun to include an underslung short-range shotgun.

The M4 and M16 assault rifles are nearly identical. The M16 is slightly heavier and slightly longer, but the weight in these rifles makes them extremely stable to shoot and take long distance sniper shots more than 400 feet away. These are laser tag rifles that really shine in the hands of an accurate marksman. They also include modified M203 grenade launchers that fire a short range, super-wide-angle shotgun blast. These guns are terrific replicas of the same weapons our troops use and are always seen on the field.
